Our Mission
At Luca + Grey, we’re passionate about creating non-toxic, high-quality products for homes that prioritize health and well-being. Our journey began with a deep concern for what our family was breathing in, which inspired us to create safe and natural alternatives.

2017-2022
As both a nurse and a cancer biology PhD student, Kayla and Julio combined their expertise and concerns to shape Luca and Grey’s mission. Kayla’s experience as an RN made her keenly aware of the harmful effects toxins can have on health, particularly on children’s developing lungs. Meanwhile, Julio’s research on how hormone disruption influences cancer development highlighted how everyday household products can contribute to long-term health risks. Together, they realized that many products contain carcinogens, hormone mimetics, and synthetic fragrances. This revelation pushed us to expand our vision beyond candles, with a goal of creating a full range of toxin-free products for healthier homes.

Launch of Luca and Grey
Named after our kids, the journey began with candles, but that was only the beginning. After our son Luca’s RSV-induced asthma made us rethink everything in our home, we knew we had to create safer products—not just for us, but for families everywhere. Candles were our first step: crafted with natural, non-toxic ingredients to ensure clean, safe air for our children’s sensitive lungs. But our mission extends far beyond candles. We’re committed to creating a full line of household products that promote health and well-being, free of the harmful chemicals that dominate everyday life

Research first company
Kayla, an RN, and Julio, a PhD student in cancer biology, share a passion for health and well-being. Their backgrounds in healthcare and research revealed the hidden dangers in everyday household products. As a research-first company, we ensure every ingredient is safe by diving deep into primary literature. Our mission is simple: create products that are both non-toxic and a delight to use, so you never have to compromise on quality
